A Practice For All Your Orthodontic Needs Facility (A) Initial Consultation The doctor will evaluate your orthdontic needs at this visit. Do you need braces? Will a retainer suffice? Is it too early to treat? Approximately what will everything cost? The doctor will try to answer all of your questions. The initial consultation is free. (B) Diagnostic Records If orthodontic treatment is needed, a diagnostic work-up is scheduled. At this visit, usually all of the following are taken: a complete clinical examination, models of the upper and lower teeth, x-rays of the teeth and jaws, and computerized digital pictures. Dr. Slutsky will then utilize advanced computer software to help diagnose and treatment plan each case. (C) Fitting the Braces and Adjustments It usually takes approximately two hours to fit a full set of braces. Once the braces are on the teeth, we usually see patients on a monthly basis. However, the frequency of visits may vary depending on the individual patient's needs. Monthly visits usually take approximately 10-30 minutes each. (D) Retainers When the braces are removed, most patients wear retainers or have wires bonded to the inside surface of their teeth to help stabilize the teeth in their new straight position. If all is going well, these visits are usually less frequent and take approximately 5-10 minutes each.
