Severe Underbite
This patient had a severe underbite (lower teeth biting ahead of upper teeth). In additon to braces, she had her upper jaw surgically widened and her lower jaw repositioned.
Underbite, Missing Teeth, and Impacted Tooth
This girl had an underbite (upper teeth bite inside lower teeth), was born missing her permanent side teeth (lateral incisors), and had an impacted eye tooth (canine). At the end of treatment, her dentist put in fake teeth to replace the missing ones.

This boy had braces and two upper teeth extracted.

Thumbsucker and Open Bite
This boy had a thumbsucking habit and an open bite (his upper and lower front teeth did not meet). Dr. Slutsky gave him early (Phase I) treatment of a thumbcrib, an appliance placed in the roof of the mouth, to remind the patient not to suck his thumb and help him eliminate the habit. When he was older, he had full braces. He was treated non-extraction - no permanent teeth were extracted.
Crowded Teeth - Four Teeth Extracted
This girl had to have teeth extracted to make room for the rest of her teeth to fit in her mouth in a straight position.
Deep Overbite - Four Teeth Extracted
This boy wore braces to correct his deep overbite. He needed four teeth extracted to make space for the remaining teeth to fit.
Severe Overbite & Buck Teeth - Two Teeth Extracted
This boy had a narrow upper jaw, severe overbite, and buck teeth. He had early treatment consisting of a rapid palatal expander to widen the upper jaw and a headgear to eliminate some of the overbite. When older, he wore braces and had two upper teeth extracted to completely eliminate the overbite and straighten the teeth.

This girl had crowded teeth, but it was not necessary in this case to extract any teeth. Notice how the upper left front tooth was reshaped to eliminate the chip in the tooth.
