Headgear

Headgear is an appliance that is used to correct a patient’s bite. This appliance helps the orthodontist move the molars back to create more space and help eliminate an overbite. Headgear is usually prescribed for the patient to wear during quiet time or sleeping. We do not recommend wearing a headgear outside or in social situations, but it should be worn at least 12 hours per day if possible.  When a patient comes for office visits, the patient should bring his/her headgear so the doctor can adjust the headgear to the pressure that’s needed and can check the fit.
